PRICE OF PIG IRON RAISED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, March 12. | As from today, pig Iron (Home trade) is quoted at 143s a ton, a rise of IDs on previous prices. N.Z. FELT AND TEXTILES. ' A net profit, after providing for taxation, of £15.1, compared with £2223 the previous year and £3422 in 1942, is shown in the accounts of New Zealand Woolpaek and Textiles,' Ltd., Foxton, for the year ended December 31. With £1272 brought in, there is £1423 available, which the directors recommend should be carried forward. In recent years the company has been paying a dividend of 4 per cent.

The report states that with a fixed sale price for the company's product it had been found impossible to provide tiie customary dividend and at the same time absorb the ever-increas-ing costs of materials, services, extra holiday pay, etc. The directors were extremely disappointed at inability to induce an adequate house-building programme at Foxton in order to bring more employees to the works. Until there were more houses it would be impossible to increase output of the modern plant which, for the past two years, had, because of labour shortages, operated only to half capacity. The branch stripping mill at Mangaiti, owing to inability to maintain operatives, had been closed. Sir Alexander Roberts retired from the board and was available for re-elec-tion. The Minister of Finance had nominated Mr. H. H. I'odmore to a seat on the board to fill, the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. V. T. Robinson.
