CHARGES OF SPEEDING
Charged with driving in a manner which might have been dangerous to the public, Richard Trevor Casey, a returned serviceman, appeared in the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court yesterday. Inspector A. J. Archer said it was- one o£ the worst cases that had recently come under his notice. The defendant Sad been followed from the V.I.C. corner in Lower Hutt to the railway station, and he had not only been travelling at 45 m.ph., but had overtaken traffic on the Hutt Bridge and again in Railway Avenue. He had also travelled for some distance on the wrong side of the road
Mr. Gouldmg, S.M*. said he would take into consideration that the defendant was a returned soldier, otherwise he would have considered suspending his driving licence. He imposed a fine of £7 10s
Sydney Charlton Weston was also charged with driving in a manner which might have been dangerous. He did not appear. The prosecution alleged a speed of 60 mph., and the overtaking of other vehicles The case was adjourned to give the defendant an oppori unity to show why his driving licence should not be suwended Guy T Foxward, against whom a speed of 50 m.p.h. was alleged, was finpd £2 10s. George Cunningham was fined £3 for exceeding the Jimit in 'a horse float:.,on ,ttie, way to the Wellington Trotting Club's Meeting. 1 \ • --1
