ARMY HUT FOR LIBRARY

The Paraparaumu Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the Anglican Hall, Mrs. G. Mac Lean presiding. As the lease of the present Women's Institute library is expiring it was 'decided to purchase an Army hut as a library to belong to the institute. To aid the fund, a guessing competition, with a dinner as prize, was held and £1 2s 6d added to the purchasing fund. Mrs. J. Beckett in the series of "Where I was born" talks gave an interesting talk on London. Soldiers' letters and Christmas greeting cards acknowledging parcels were read. Competition for the. best flower was won by Mrs. Hadfield and Mrs. Wise.
