BOWLING

PAIRS DELAYED

SHORT GAMES DECIDED ON

P.A. AUCKLAND, This Day. So far as weather is concerned, the competitors at the New Zealand Bowling Association's annual tournament have been- unlucky. Auckland's perfect holiday weather broke a few days before the championships commenced. Play on the first two days of the singles contest was interrupted by showers, and today the start of the pairs contest, which is being played in 90 sections, was delayed for two hours following heavy rain early in the morning. As a result of the hold-up, it was decided to make each game only 15 ends, with a time limit of an hour and three-quarters. Four rounds are being played today. Last night the office of the Carlton Club, which is the headquarters for the. tournament, was burgled. The office was ransacked, and a sum of nioney was taken, also office equipment.
