SOUTH AFRICAN GOLDFIELDS

LONDON, December 28. Vast potential goldfields which will open up a new chapter in South African history, almost certainly exist in the Orange Free State, says the "Daily Mail's" Johannesburg correspondent.

Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, one of the leaders of the gold-mining industry, says that the fields are centred round Odendaals and Rust, and that the area for intensive prospecting covers 3000 square miles.

At least four great mines are foreseen, each requiring about £4,000,000 sterling to bring it to full production.
