WAIRARAPA MEETING
INTERESTING CARD TAUHERENIKAU THE VENUE Racing enthusiasts at this end of the Wellington Province and over the range will be^ catered for at Tauherenikau tomorrow, when the Wairarapa Racing Club will commence a twoday meeting. Excellent fields are carded 'in every instance, and the racing should be interesting. The Tauherenikau course is noted for its beautiful surroundings, and it only remains for the. day to be fine for a large crowd . to' be attracted to the course, which lends itself admirably to picnic gatherings. As a result of his triumph in the Manawatu Cup last Saturday, Longsword has been raised to 9.2, but under the higher scale he meets Lowry Bay on only lib worse terms than the weight he actually carried af Awapuni. However, Longsword, Master Dash, Irish Note, and Foxcatcher are also engaged.in the Wardell Handicap, the open sprint, and it remains to be seen which engagement they will go,.through with. Should Irish Note's connections elect to have a tilt at'the big. handicap and allow John Gay to do honour for* the stable in the sprint race, the chestnut should make a bold-showing despite .-his lack of experience over the distance. With the weather uncertain it is difficult to foresee what the track conditions will be, but horses likely to be favoured under reasonably good going are:— Waiohine Stakes. —Theorist, Village Squire, Rockanui.
