CHORAL UNION
LIBRARIAN'S LONG SERVICE
The rehearsal.of "The Messiah" by the Royal Wellington Choral -Union was interrupted this week to enable members to extend their thanks and best wishes to Mr. J. E. Perry, who has relinquished the position of librarian after 32 years' service.
The chairman, Mr. H. E. Moston, presented Mr. Perry with a well-filled.^ wallet and said that the work Mr. Perry had performed for the society was unique. He was a foundation member, having assisted in the formation of the society in- 1904. He had been a member of the committee for 33 years and during that period had missed only one committee meeting. /When he took charge of the library 32 years ago there were 150 scores of music; today there were approximately 16,000 scores.
Mr. Perry, in his reply, said he had commenced his training early as he was librarian at .the day school, and probably fhat gave him a flair for the work which had afforded him so much pleasure during his long association with the Choral Union. •
Mr. Perry was accorded musical honours.
