CUT BY U.S. FORCES

PLIGHT OF JAP GARRISON

. LONDON, December 6. General Mac Arthur reports that American warships and aircraft have now cut the Japanese reinforcement route to Leyte by blockading the Ormoc Bay area, and the plight of the Japanese garrison, estimated at 25,000, is said to be serious.

American forces on Leyte have made further progress. Admiral Nimitz reports new air attacks on Palau, Volcano, and other islands held by the Japanese, and blows on Japanese installations in China.
