SCARED
A bunch of Jap prisoners was stringing along a jungle, trail leading to the American beach-head at Noemfoor Island, off Dutch New Guinea. Suddenly they surprised their American guards by squealing in panic as they pointed up the track. The guards looked. Striding along the track were two soldiers wearing Australian slouch hats. As the two Diggers approached two of the prisoners fell on their knees and began to gesticulate pitifully. One of the amazed guards said, "You guys certainly must have a reputation with the Nips."—L.
