DAIRY WORKERS' DISPUTE

Although a complete agreement as announced last night, had been reached in general terms by the conciliation council dealing with the dairy workers' dispute, the agreement had yet to be drawn up in a form which could be presented to the Arbitration Court for making into an award said the Minister of Labour (Mr. Webb) today. The committee of assessors to whom that work had been delegated would meet on Tuesday of next week to do the necessary drafting. The Arbitration Court would sit in Wellington next Wednesday to make fixtures and a joint application would be made by the parties to the dairy workers' dispute for an early hearing of their case.

Mr. Webb said he had to express his admiration of the sense of responsibility shown by both sides in the important negotiations, and his hope that as a result, there would be a complete restoration of the good feeling which had been a feature of the relationship between employee and employer in the industry.
