SPEEDING UP
LOANS FOR SERVICEMEN
While he had no intention of trying to justify delays in deciding upon loan applications by servicemen, said the Minister of Rehabilitation (Mr. Skinner) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, he wished to give an assurance that those delays were being reduced daily. Although even now there might still be what might be considered annoying delays in some cases, the work had been speeded up. With the expansion of decentralisation of administration the" pace would be still further accelerated. The promised reduction of interest rates on loans to ex-servicemen would be retrospective, said the Minister. He added that he hoped to make an announcement on. the interest rates question beforethe close ofthe session.
