'BOUGAINVILLE, November 24. A gift of sixty dollars (£lB 5s in New I Zealand moneyj to the fund for the welfare of crippled children in New] Zealand has been made by the Bougainville Masonic , Club. The club at present has a preponderance of membership from America, and when deciding to purchase two life memberships at the cost of 60 dollars each in I the American Institute for the Welfare of Crippled Children, the club also decided to make a grant to a similar! organisation in New Zealand. The club, which meets every Monday night, draws its membership from i all parts of the United States, and has representation from many countries in the Pacific. This includes many New Zealanders and New Zealand is represented on the board of directors Masonic work is not carried out but the meetings are held in the true spirit of Masonry, non-Masonic personnel being cordially welcomed as visitors Its primary motive is to give Masonic brethren serving in the Pacific an opportunity of getting to know each other In this it has been fully successful, meeting nights being fully attended. * | Lectures on service matters given by members who have been through some of the hardest campaigns of the Pacific | war have proved useful and informative, and there have been many entertainments that members have appreciated. Supper, with ice-cream, cakes and coffee, is always provided.
