NEW JAP COMMANDERS
Rec. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 22. Tokio official radio announced that Field-Marshal Shunroku Hata had relinquished his post as Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese forces in China to become Inspector-General of Military Education.
General Yasuji Okamura, Commander of the Japanese in North China, succeeds him.
Lieut-General Sadaahi Shimorura, Commander of the Japanese in the mainland western defence district, succeeds General Okamura in North China.
A German officer looked up from the table where he was telephoning a report to his chief and saw a British soldier standing at his dug-out entrance with a tommy-gun. The commanding officer heard the even voice break off in the middle of the report. Then. "I'm a prisoner of war," said the German to his superior. He then replaced the receiver and followed his captor.
