VALLEY YOUNGER SET
PRESIDENT GOING OVERSEAS
The Hutt Valley Younger Set (Inc.) which holds dances on Wednesday nights at the Services' Club and on Saturday nights in the N.Z. Slippers' Hall, made a presentation last week to Miss Aubrey Robins, the president, who has volunteered for overseas duties as a V.A. The committee expressed deep regret at the loss of Miss Robins, who, since the patroness, Mrs. Ashe, founded the society four years ago, has worked untiringly and unselfishly for its cause. This organisation has donated £384 to the Patriotic Fund and £233 to the R.S.A. Donations have also been made to other organisations, such as the Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Blind Institute, and the Makogai Island Lepers' Fund.
No appeal has been made to the public, either collectively or individually, for funds, and all the work of the committee and other helpers is entirely voluntary. Its object is to promote the interests and welfare of young people, on a non-sectarian, nonpolitical basis, by encouraging them to enter into social and outdoor activities. It has been fortunate in obtaining the services of the Air Force orchestra for the Wednesday night dances.
