GUARDS AS SPEARHEAD

RUGBY, October'l9. It is disclosed that the Guards Armoured Division was the Second Army's spearhead throughout the advance from Brussels to Holland and thence to the gates of Germany at Nijmegen. The division earlier formed tfie spearhead in a spectacular advance of 430 miles in nine days from Flers to Brussels.

Although long and swift advances impose severe strain upon the supply services, the Guards were supported so magnificently that no tank halted for lack of petrol and no gun was ever short of ammunition all the way from Flers to Nijmegen.—B.O.W.
