NON-LABOUR PARTY
PROGRESS IN AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA, October 16. The initial plans for unifying the non-Labour forces throughout Australia in a new movement to be known as the Liberal Party of Australia, were unanimously accepted today by a conference of. BQ. delegates representing 18 organisations.
The conference adopted a 10-point policy which will be submitted, to .the State organisations for ratification. Aprovisional1 executive was appointed,and it, is. probable that another, confer-: ence with plenary powers to accept recommendations on policy ■-•and* organisation for inclusion in the party's permanent constitution will be called before the. end. of -, November;
Recommendations, by the organisation committee cover ' the structure of the new party, including - -theformation of branches in ..the*, states,* to the final executive body, which 'wHLcarry out the directions of the,.council, of the party, which wiir :b*e"" the J supreme governing authority. At. this., stage no consideration has been given to the appointment of a permanent" head of the new. party; however, he.aj will not be a member of Parliament. :
