LIVERGNANO CAPTURED
ALLIED SUCCESS IN ITALY
LONDON, October 16.
Americans of the Fifth Aiiny, in a day of heavy fighting, captured the important town of Livergnano, 10 miles from Bologna, which had been strongly contested during the last four days, says today's Allied communique. British and South African troops further west cleared the villages of Veggio, Grizzana, and Camriara.
The Eighth Army on the Adriatic sector crossed the Scolorigossa River and captured Gambettola. .
A communique from the Italian resistance headquarters reports that a German .general commanding the 75th Division "was killed -when Italian patriots ambushed a convoy in the' Beilla district in northern Italy.
The Eighth Army has taken 10,300 prisoners since the opening of the Gothic Line offensive, says the Exchange Telegraph agency's Some correspondent.
