A sentence of three months' hard labour for the theft of a gold watch was imposed on Robert George Everest, labourer, 24, by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson said Everest had gone to a man's home in Kaiwarra after drinking a considerable amount of liquor with him, and after he left the watch and the family ration books were found to be missing. In a statement to the police Everest admitted the theft, and said he had taken the name plate off the watch and given it away. The ration, books had been burned and the watch had not been recovered. . .
