PENDING RELEASE

WAR PRISONER MAIL

Referring today to letters and parcels for prisoners of war in Germany which senders intend forwarding to the care of the High Commissioner for; New' Zealand in London to be held pending the release of the addressees, the' Postmaster-General (Mr. Webb) emphasised the importance of such correspondence bearing a clear indication to the effect that it is to be so held. The Minister suggested, as a suitable enfacement, the words "P.O.W.—to be held pending release." Mr. Webb stated that the prisoner's camp address need not be shown in such cases. It was desirable, however, that the regimental number of the addressees' should be included.
