DROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA

CANBEHRA, October 4 Australia's wheat crop this season is expected to drop to a record low level of under 60,000,000 bushels because of drought. Both the Victorian and New South Wales wheat belts had been heavily hit. Relief for the stricken areas by a Federal grant estimated to run into some millions of pounds is being sought by the State Premiers conference now in session here. Swarms of grasshoppers are stripping the last vegetation from parts of the Riverina district in New South Wales.
