LENGTH OF SESSION
"GOOD PROGRAMME AHEAD"
A statement that there was still a "good programme ahead" before an adjournment of the present sitting of Parliament could be expected was made by the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives yesterday in reply to the Leader of the Opposition. Mr. Holland said that the present was the eighteenth week of the session, and he thought it was time that some indication was given to members of the likely duration of the sitting and business that was likely to be brought forward.
Mr. Fraser said that he would probably be in a position to make a statement on the subject either on Friday or at the beginning of next week. There would be a number of Bills, such as the Milk Bill and the Slum Clearance Bill, and there would probably be an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act. A number of other smaller items could be included in the Statutes Amendment Bill. He proposed to suggest that the House adjourn at the end of the present month or the'beginning of November for three weeks.
