"It seems with Steele that if you give a man sufficient rope he will hang himself," said Mr. J. L. Stout SM in the Magistrate's Court today, when Walter James Steele, seaman, 19 and Charles Walter Joseph Bull, steward 18, appeared for sentence on car conversion charges. Mr. G. Joseph, counsel for the accused, made a plea for leniency, pointing out that both had spent about five years at sea. Steele appeared to be the major party in the offences, he added. The Magistrate agreed. Bull was admitted to probation for two years and Steele was committed to Borstal for two years.
