ENEMY SHIP BOMBED
Rec. 12.45 p.m. RUGBY, October 1 Spotting a convoy of about 20 ships about to move out from an anchorage in the mouth of the Schilling Roadi last night, the pilot of an R.A.F. Coastal Command Wellington selected tha largest—a 4000-tonner—for attack. Fifteen seconds later he saw an amber glow and the whole ship covered with spray from the bomb explosion. There was no flak from, the ships until after the attack, and then it was inaccurate: —8.0. W.
