WANTED BY RUSSIA

Rec. 9.30 a.m. NEW YORK, Oct 1 Soviet representatives are reported to be seeking, two million artificial legs from manufacturers' in the United States, but to be-meeting with little success, because no American firm has ever produced more than 5000 in one year, and-all are now behind with their American orders, says the "New York Herald Tribune's" Washington correspondent.

The production manager of what is considered to be the largest American firm revealed that he had received an inquiry for legs from a Russian official. There are few, if any, artificial limb factories in Russia, but American manufacturing methods are being studied by the Soviet in anticipation of establishing plants. The Soviet Government, it is reported, does not yet know the number of amputations made in Russia.
