AMALGAMATION MOVE
FARMING ORGANISATIONS
O.C. WANGANUI, This Day. Amalgamation of unions and similar bodies representing farmers and primary producers in New Zealand is to become definite at meetings to be held in Wellington this week, according to information given to the Wellington Central Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at Marton yesterday by Mr. J. R. L. Hammond (Rata).
Mr. Hammond said that representatives of the Farmers' Union and the New Zealand Sheepowners* Federation were to meet in Wellington on Wednesday. On Thursday details of what was decided would be placed before representatives of other primary producers' organisations. "By Friday," said Mr. Hammond, "the Sheepowners' Federation and the Farmers' Union will be one body." He said that a meeting of the complete council of the new body, it was hoped, would be held on Friday. "The entire procedure will be discussed at that meeting," Mr. Hammond added, "and the smaller organisations will know that they are joining a concrete body of farmers."
