Ihe high light of a boxing tournament at rr \T%r ? st night between Wellington and uutt Aalley amateurs was a return bout between lrob Goslln (City Mission), the Wellington bantamweight champion, and Lin J-Jiili) (Kailways), whom Goslin beat by a Miock-out m the second round of the chamDioiishlp final. A four-round contest was won convincingly by Pliiip, w i lo was too clever to allow Gosim to land a knock-out punch, and wiio dealt out so much punishment- on his own account that the younger boy was almost out ! towards the end of the last two rounds interest in this contest was largely responjSioie tor the tournament packing the Labour Hall to capacity, many Intending patrons havling to be turned away. In the teams match for the Hugh Pahey Cup, the Hutt Valley boys proved much too good for their opponents and won by 12 points to 4. Hedberg's Gymnasium, which won most of the amateur titles was not represented, as it has a team away at Greyraouth. Results are:— L. Philp (Railways), Sst 81b, beat B. Cheshire (Air l<orce) sst 01b, on points; Shcrratt (Martins), sst, beat Scnlfe (Railways), ast lib, on points; C. Adams (Railways) gst 71b, beat R. O'Connell (Gaiety), 9st lllb, by a technical knock-out in the first round; O'Regan (Martin's), Sst 91b, beat Pilcner (Railways), Sst 91b, on points; L. Downey (Railways), Usi ioib, beat H. Hanson (City Mission), lOst 51b, on points; R. Stewart (City Mission), 7st 31b, beat B. Dawson (Martins), 7st, on points;- T. Scaife (Railways), Ust :ilh, beat A. Oathain (City Mission), Gst 3lb, on points. Messrs. L. Stewart and A. J. Clevcrley acted as referees, and the judges were Messrs. X Brioii, a. MciCenna, H. Domney, and J. V uaynor.
