LICENSING COMMITTEE

Transfer of a publican's licence for the Panama Hotel from James O'Hagan to Charles James O'Connell and also for the Imperial Hotel from C. S. Hoare to Harold Harley, were granted by the Wellington Licensing Committee at its quarterly meeting yesterday." Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., presided, and other members present were Miss A. G. Kane, Messrs. R. Darroch, W. H. Denton, and J. H. Fowler. The chairman referred to the fact that minor repairs ordered by the committee at its annual meeting to the Prince of Wales, Barrett's, and Post Office Hotels had not been carried out Though all could understand that major repairs had to remain in abeyance until material and labour were available there was no excuse for minor repairs not being carried out. It was decided to inform the licensees of those hotels that the" minor repairs ordered must be completed before the next quarterly meeting of the committee. ,
