NON-LABOUR PARTIES
■-■'■■ : SYDNEY,. September 1. ' Negotiations for unity between nonLabour parties (Democrats and' Liberal Democrats) in New South wales have been broken, off. The' cause of the breach after an agreement between the. two parties had been announced was the Democratic Party's refusal to agree to the appointment of a' provisional council to act in1 temporary control of both parties. The break-down will not affect negotiations for the formation of the' Com-, monwealth organisation of non-Labour, forces which was announced this' week by the Federal Leader of the Opposition, Mr.' Menzies: The ■ ''Sydney Morning Herald" says in an editorial: "There is so urgent a-: tfieed for a strong and united Opposition party that: the public Ms less! likely to be concerned with the rights' and wrongs of the particular point at! dssue than with the fact that the poli-!. tical good sense of '.the negotiating: 'bodies has not proved !strong enough; to find a mutually .acceptable solution."
