GERMANY INDICTED
MURDER OF 320 HOSTAGES
. RUGBY, August .31. Nazi Germany was officially accused today of the murder of more than 320 Italian hostages near Rome last March, states a correspondent at Rome. The Official .Italian Investigation Commission, headed by Prince-M ?°, ri.an > Mayor of Rome, presented a detailed report of the shootings and recommended that the full'facts'-be referred to the Allied War Crimes Commission so that the guilty may be ■brought .to justice. The commission reported that a common grave at the Ardeatine caves contains more than 320 bodies. The Germans admitted the shooting of this number as a-repfisal for the killing of 32 Germans by a bomb which exploded m the Via Basella on March 23. After the explosion the Germans announced that they would kill 10 persons for every German victim, and on the following afternoon 320 were taken from Rome to the Ardeatine caves and shot one by one with largecalibre revolvers.
