DEATH IN INDIA
WELL-KNOWN MISSIONARY Cable' advice 'has : b*een received in Wellington-.of .the; death in India 'last week.of Miss Joan.TVLcGregor, formerly of Dunedin, who "had completed 45 years1' service 1 as •a" missionary. -Miss McGregor, who was. born at Sandymount, Otago Peninsula, left Dunedin in 1899 tds join the "Eoona and Indian Village' Mission -in the Bombay Presidency. After" - several ' years' service there she- joined the' Pandita Ramabai Mission at Mukti for the Child Widows and "Orphans of Itidia; which is conducted on "faith" lines. •• She served at Mukti for 35 years, and then went to reside at" Miss Ferguson's for orphans at Junnar, .near .Ppona, where she spent the remaining years of her life, as hbr failing .health permitted, in administrative and gospel work. Miss McGregor was well known throughout New Zealand, which she toured extensively'on behalf of the Mukti Mission during, the several occasions when she was on furlough.
