FIANCEES ENTERTAIN
■• On Wednesday evening at the <Jaiety Club, 150;' girls' affianced to United States servicemen enjoyed a meeting planned and organised by girls engaged to m'en in the First Marine Division. '. ■ ' ■ After much general business and the election of a fiancee committee. Miss Phoebe Lawson sarig. A long, interesting letter telling of a New Zealand - girl's travels and experience in going from San Francisco to Ohio was read by Patricia Smith, and Bessie McNeely ran two quizzes, one of them concerning general knowledge of New Zealand. Two Americans, Mrs. Boyd and Miss Vaughari, were guests for the evening, both of whom having arrived recently from the U.S.A., brought the girls many items of-'news and general interest. Mrs. Boyd gave a comprehensive talk on such matters as food, its preparation as peculiar to certain areasi and rationing. Miss Bessie McNeely, as leader of the group which organised the meeting, thanked the visitors. ■ . It was.decided that the fiancees of men in the U.S. Navy would be responsible 'for the organisation of the next meeting.
