DAIRY PRODUCE
POST-WAR MARKETING
The question of post-war marketing of butter and cheese is to be investigated by the Dairy Board, which was asked yesterday by the annual conference to report back to the next Dominion conference. The following remit was tabled:—"That, having carefully considered (a) a continuance of the guaranteed price and Government control, (b) a maximum and minimum price (an equalisation price), (c) a minimum guaranteed price, (d) complete freedom without any guarantee from any Government, the conference was wholeheartedly in support of: (1) The dairy industry regaining the ownership of its export produce. (21 The dairy industry being solely responsible for the marketing of its own produce, such to be marketed by the Dairy Board to best advantage on the soundest commercial lines and on behalf of the dairy industry as a whole. (3) A Government guaranteed minimum price, such price to, be determined after a special committee," appointed by the Dominion conference, has brought forward its findings." An amendment giving effect to the decision to ask the Dairy Board to inquire into the position was adopted.
