VICEREGAL. Government House, Wellington, • July 27. This afternoon his Excellency the Governor-General, received MajorGeneral F. T. Bowerbank, DirectorGeneral of Medical Service's. Her Excellency Lady Newall was present at a meeting of members of the Dominion Federation of Women's Institutes, held at the Wesley Hall, Lower Hutt. Mr. J. S. Roscoe has been appointed general secretary of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute. For the past ten years Mr. Roscoe has been secretary of the Canterbury branch of the institute, of which he was a former president for eight years. Until his new appointment he was the national vice-president and an executive councillor. Mr. Roscoe has also been an employees' representative on the Railways Appeal Board. Major D. S. G. Marchbanks, M.8.E., D.5.0., chief assistant engineer to the Wellington Harbour Board, was welcomed back at Wednesday's meeting of the board after four years' active service.-'
