AUSTRALIAN CASUALTIES
CANBERRA. July 26. Australian Navy, Army, and Air Force casualties to March 3 totalled 81,260. They comprised:— Army.—Killed 9338, prisoners 26,052, wounded 30,637. Air Force.—Killed 4670, missing 1845. prisoners 771. ivounded 2175. •Navy.—Killed 1201. missing 532, prisoners 343, wounded 230. The total of Service enlistments to the end of April Avas 891,000. Seven out of every ten men between the ages of 18 and 36 have served in the Australian fighting forces during the war. Despite the war losses, a Government: publication issued today reveals that i since the war began Australia's excess of births over Service and natural deaths has been 36.000. In the last war the loss in Australia's population was 103,500, the deficiency of births ivas 43,000, and the Service.: 'deaths numbered 60.000.
