1100 BOMBERS

MISSION TO MUNICH

LONDON, July 11,

A United States Strategic Air Force communique states that of a force of 1100 Fox-tresses and Liberators which bombed targets in the Munich area today, 20 bombers have not yet returned. Two fighters of the strong escorting force are also missing. A Rome correspondent says that Fifteenth United States Air Force Liberators, escorted by Mustangs, attacked naval installations at Toulon, and reported good pattern bombing on the target area. There was heavy antiaircraft fire, but no enemy planes were seen. Toulon was attacked on July 5, when extensive damage was reportetl. The Air Ministry states that Bomber Command Mosquitoes last night attacked Berlin, and that mines were also laid in enemy waters. One plane is missing;
