TO STOP IN AUSTRALIA

CANBERRA, July 11

All the recommendations made in the interim report of the Australian Censorship Committee have been approved, and directions have been given to Commonwealth Departments to carry them out, the Prime Minister, Mr. Curtin, announced today.

This means that censorship will no longer be used in the policing of minor offences against rationing and .other regulations, and that when correspondence is supplied to a Government Department the addressee or sender will be notified promptly. The Parliamentary Censorship Committee has .not yet completed its inquiry and Opposition demands will be made to hand it over to Mr. Justice Clyne.
