She was' the first woWan, member of the Board of Governor^, O f the Otago. High School, and served I o ri that body for 12 years. Among thS. organisations oi* which she held • exC cu tiYeVc positions in later, years .were the" Women's .Division of the Farmer*' Union, the Home Economics AssociatS on the League of Mothers, the Girl Gluides' Association, the Territorial Association, the Vocational Guidance the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, and thl e otago Pioneer Women's Memorial Afssociation. Four of her sons1 served in fc n e war of 1914* 18, the eldest being *iu e d in action at Messines, and the ffmrth son dying five years ago as the ro| su it o f war service.
