LIBERATED NORMANDY
FRENCH ADMINISTRATORS
LONDON, June 14. The French provisional Government at Algiers has appointed civil and military administrators for the liberated regions of Normandy and has served notice that it expects the Allies to respect its authority within France. M Francois Coulet, a former Secre-tary-General for Corsica, is appointed civil administrator and Colonel Pierre de Chevigny military administrator. Colonel de Chevigny joined the Free French forces in June, 1940, and became chief of staff to General Catroux. Algiers radio says that French Forces of the Interior on certain sectors have interrupted enemy communication > lines and caused delays in troop movements which were above expectations. These operations have contributed to the success of the first phase of the invasion. Groups of patriots, particularly in the Alps, Vosges, Jura, Pyrenees, and Brittany, have attacked convoys, small garrisons, arms depots, and power installations.
