A Pacific Fleet communique says that navy Venturas bombed Shumushu and Paramushiru before dawn on Friday, starting large fires at Shumushu. Liberators bombed Matsuwa, Island. Liberators, before dawn on Saturday, dropped 41 tons of bombs on areas of Truk atoll. Mitchells bombed lonape on Thursday, hitting an airfield, hangars and adjacent buildings. Other bombers and fighters attacked the remaining objectives in the Marshalls on Wednesday Thursday, and Friday, strafing and bombing flak batteries, coastal guns, runways,, and barracks.
