NO PROGRESS BY NAZIS

"In the face of ever-increasing Russian resistance, German troops yesterday extended their successes of Friday, in the area north of Jassy. The Germans wrested,,. two more dominating heights from the Russians and now hold a ridge overlooking all the enemy movement^ to a great depth." This was the Nazi commentator Major yon .'Hammer's version of tht latest fighting on the Jassy battlefront, but the British United Press Moscow correspondent this evening declared that the Russians, despite repeated large-scale tank and infantry attacks,- are still' holding their positions north-west- of Jassy; Tank . reinforcements have been rushed to the Germans, but many tanks have been knocked out, and the Germans are suffering heavy casualties. ■■ -~, >■■■ ■r-■ .- Moscow radio stated that the Germans north-west and north of Jassy yesterday were unable to make an inch of progress.' The Red Army launched a number of successful counter-attacks.
