NAZIS ON SOVIET OFFENSIVE Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, June 1,
German military quarters say that the Soviet summer offensive .in the Tiraspol and Vitebsk sectors is about to begin, reports Paris radio. German bomber formations continue to harass Soviet troop and tank concentrations.
"Red Star" states that the Germans launched several attacks north»west of Vitebsk with a regiment of infantry and tanks supported by artillery and mortars, but were repelled and forced to retreat to their initial positions after losing 400 killed. :
