BRITISH MAKE BREACH

BROAD FRONT ON HIGHWAY 6 (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) Eec. 2 p.m. LONDON, May 31. British troops have broken into Frosinone, and street fighting is going on, stated a British United Press correspondent at Allied headquarters in Italy tonight. Eeuter's correspondent says that the enemy is continuing to fall back under pressure by British troops who are now astride Highway 6 on a broad front. Cabling earlier, the Reuter correspondent stated Eighth Army tanks and mobile infantry had by-passed Arnare, three and a half miles south of Frosinone, while the French were pushing up from the south following the occupation of Ceccano, five miles south of Frosinone. Berlin radio reports that hard street fighting is occurring inside Velletri. ■ The German news agency says that a critical situation arose in the area east of the Velletri-Valmontone line when Moroccans broke into the rear of the German forward line. The Germans, it says, have succeeded m shortening the line on a wide front and have taken up positions north of Frosinone. The agency quoted a German High Command spokesman as stating: "The German withdrawal movements have already reached such an advanced stage that it can now be revealed that the bulk of the German forces in the southern sectors or the Italian front have been successfully transferred to the north." . Berlin radio's war correspondent in Italy, Anton Webere, in a message from the front tonight, says: The commander of the German troops in the Frosinone. sector told me that his forces will continue their resistance as long as they have arms with which to fight. The German soldiers here are tired, hungry, and dishevelled. Their throats are parched when night comes, and they will have to ba withdrawn to new positions. They curse and swear."
