DEER MENACE
"There are no natural enemies of the deer in New Zealand," states a contributor to "Forest and Bird," ' and; so far there has not been found any certain method of controlling the deer, population in New Zealand by. shooting, or by starving, or by poisoning. In view of the great damage done to the forests, and the deer's part in causing damaging erosion, the question of 'what will the deer do to the people] of New Zealand?' is becoming a very,* pressing one."
