Crick, Lyall Bay, Wellington, have- much pleasure in announcing tho engagement of their only daughter, Lola Cynthia, to Warrant Officer Gordon Alexander Butt, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Dance at Scots College. j To raise funds for the benefit of the school, the Scots College Parents' Association held a dance in the college gymnasium on Saturday night. It was arranged by the ladies' committee, with Mrs. W. Burton the organiser. The function was eminently successful, the gymnasium, which was most attractively decorated with bunting, etc., being crowded with dancers. In addition to the orchestra, the College Pipe Band was in attendance. Mr. V. Francis, headmaster, and Mrs. Francis and' quite a few members of the staff .were, ampng those present. A home-made supper was served by the ladies' committee. Paraparaumu Meeting. At the May meeting of the Paraparaumu Women's Institute, Mr. Alderson gave a very interesting talk on "Music of the' Great Masters." Interesting letters from soldiers overseas thanking the institute for parcels received were read. A report on the recent Federation of Women's Institutes conference, held at Paekakariki was read by Miss Clarkson. Mrs. J. Farrell, Auckland, is visiting Wellington and is staying with her mother, Mrs. Ferris, Seaforth Flats.
