BLOMFIELD BEATS ANDREWS
Though last night's weather was not of he hind to tempt people away from their fliesldes, there was a good crowd at the Town Hall to see the return wrestling match between Lofty Blomfleld <16»t 101b) «}* H"^; Andrews (16st). Those who braved the win and the rain saw a bout will oil was faster and contained more action than that of a week ago, and they also saw Blomfleld have his levcnge on his Australian rival. From Iho start, the men showed less inclination to confine themselves to s'ra fc'ht wesllmg than to punish each other with jolts and whatever other measures they could devise. Unwary limbs wore entangled In the ropes the outside shelf of the platform was used as a landing stage after flights over or through the ropes, fingers were bitten, and throats choked. All this served to put the crowd in the right frame of mind, and there was wild cheer ing from Andrews'* supporters when, in the third round, he suddenly picked Blomfleld up foi an aeroplane spin and dump which earned him the first fall. The fifth round did not afrw. the position, though Blomfleld used it to take some of the stuffing out of his opponent, and then, in the sixth, Andrews found himself felled suddenly and tied up in the dreaded octopus clamp. Blomfleld dragged his victim towards a corner, which had the, effect ot makin" it more difficult to undo the clamp alter the fall had been awarded. The result was that when the separation was finally made Andrews displayed a slilr leg. Despite the handicap, ho came out again and resisted valiantly when Blomfleld threw his weight into a barred toe-hold on the injured leg. eventually the referee decided that Andrews should' be saved from himself, and awarded Blomfleld Mo match on what might be called a technical knock-out. In a five-round professional preliminary, Glen Shannon (list 101b) beat Sgt. W. Cook (lL'st 31b) by two falls to one. Jlr. Kay Allen was the refcrco for the professional bouts.
