RIVER CONTROL METHODS
The planting of willows along the banks of the Hutt Kiver was criticised as playing with the control problem by Mr. James Stellin, a candidate for a seat on the Hutt River Board. He advocated the use of a three-cable walking dragline, which would clear and deepen the main channel, form stop-banks on each side, and extract gravel for sale at less cost than the present system.
