Mr. F.: Brady, who: has been a member of .the Hutt County Council for the past 18 years', told councillors at yesterday's meeting that it was not his intention to seek re-election. The j chairman, ,Mr.' R. L. Button, paid a tribute ; to' the retiring councillor's work, mentioning that Jhe was of a family of pioneers who had been in the district for 100 years,- and presented him with an easy, chair as- a token of esteem' from his fellow-councillors. Miss Amy Kane announces her candidature as an Independent for a seat on the City Council, and as a member of the Citizens' ticket for the Hospital Board. A past-president of the New Zealand Council' of Women and the New Zealand Federation of Women's Institutes, she has served for 30 years on various committees and organisations. She has been on the Hospital Board for 11 years. .
