Trapped By Red Army

SOVIET MARCH ON ODESSA

LONDON, April 7.

Moscow announced that the Russians have surrounded another large German force in the area between Odessa and the Dniester, and that already they have accounted for 6000 of the enemy. This German force has been encircled north of Razdelnaya, the railway junction between Odessa and the Dniester which was captured by the Russians two days ago. Soviet forces are beginning to exterminate the trapped divisions, and in two days they have killed more than 5000 enemy troops and captured another 1000. The Russians are also taking- heavy toll of the German divisions encircled many miles to the north-west in the Skala area of the. upper Dniester. The battle has now moved west of Skala, and yesterday the Russians wiped out more than 4000 Germans in the pocket and captured numbers of transport planes, guns, tanks, and lorries. Strong forces of tanks and infantry outside the pocket tried again to break through to the relief of their trapped comrades, but the Russians smashed all these attacks. Russian troops have continued their widespread advance towards Odessa today, and ;captured more than 60 towns and villages.
