Rec. 11 a.m. RUGBY, March 3. In Arakan on Monday there was an increase in Japanese artillery fire in the western sector, states .South-east 'Asia Headquarters. Tanks' destroyed bunker positions at Maungdaw. Our troops attacked and captured ground south ,of the Maungdaw-Buthidaung road. . Oh the North Burma front; , remnants of the Japanese forces are retreating from Shingban. The Japanese falling are remaining west of the Nambyu River, which the American road block has prevented them from crossing. There was extensive R.A.F. activity, and many places have been bombed, including the Bankok supply positions and communications north and south of Burma. No Allied aircraft are missing."
