OC ; AUCKLAND, This A brief thunderstorm, which gathered in the south-east, interrupted fine sun- , shine yesterday afternoon and.deluged / maSy pStfof Auckland, with torrential rahi Coming quickly and unexpectedly^ithWdden wind, the downpour caught many people unprepared and invaded houses, the endows of which had been left open to.the sun. St. Heliers and nearby parts received the worst of the storm. Fortm*J* «g waterfront road were covered with several inches of rain water. Parts ol the Waitemata Electric foyer Boards, area were affected and electric services were interrupted: for up to half an hTbrSt£Sy of lightning,was witnessed in Hamilton for an + houi r last evening. There were intermittent claps of thunder and rain followed. . V During a severe thunderstorm In Waihi yesterday, 2.50 inches of rain fell, and last night a further 2.25 inches was recorded.
